 Job Objective

The Sheet Metal Trainee is responsible for gaining knowledge and experience by observing and actively participating in tasks alongside Sheet Metal personnel within the Part 145 Repair Station team, to expand their knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Essential Functions

  • Develop a working knowledge of the hangar layout, tools, and sheet metal workflow processes
  • Complete assigned tasks and training objectives provided by the Part 145 Repair Station – Metro Gulf Division
  • Gain supervised, hands-on experience in sheet metal fabrication, repair, and structural modifications
  • Learn, understand, and adhere to Metro Aviation’s safety culture and operational procedures
  • Assist Sheet Metal Technicians with inspections, repairs, and installations, as directed
  • Assist with other duties assigned by Part 145 Director of Maintenance

Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Experience in related field preferred 

Physical Demands

  • Walking, standing, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, kneeling, squatting for extended periods of time
  • Climbing heights on various equipment
  • Lifting up to 50 or more pounds
  • Must have sufficient vision and ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (High Visibility clothing, Ear protection, safety glasses) when required

Work Environment

  • Indoor/Outdoor environment with potential extreme hot and cold temperatures
  • Exposure to hazardous chemicals is possible
  • Moderate to loud noise level
  • Heavy machinery used

Work Status, Schedule, Travel

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Monday-Thursday 7:00 am-4:30 pm, Friday 7:00 am-12:00 pm
  • Overtime necessary depending on workload
  • Occasional travel may be required
