Job Objective

The Airworthiness Manager is responsible for providing direct supervision, planning, management, oversight, and responsibility for the Airworthiness and Records Departments. 

 Essential Functions

  • Manage and oversee the development of and revisions to the company Approved Aircraft Inspection Program (AAIP), Minimum Equipment Lists (MEL) Program, Aircraft Conformity Process, and inspection requirements based on instructions for Continued Airworthiness, Supplemental Type Certificates or other approved data for inclusion in the company AAIP, Master Inspections Lists, Configuration Control Documents, Weight and Balance Charts, Equipment Lists, Aircraft Conformity Book and Site Binder
  • Monitor new and recurring FAA Airworthiness Directives and manufacturer’s Service Bulletins; interpret and disseminate complex technical data for proper corrective actions by Aviation Maintenance Technicians
  • Coordinate Company manual revision approvals through the Director of Maintenance Part 135, while working closely with FAA Airworthiness Inspectors
  • Assist in the performance of 14 CFR Part 135 conformity inspections of Company aircraft
  • Ensure compliance with FARs, maintenance procedures, airworthiness directives, and service bulletins/service letters
  • Guarantee that all Company aircraft/maintenance records are collected, reviewed, documented, and stored as required by the Metro Aviation, Inc. General Operations Manual and in accordance with FAA regulations
  • Manage and assist in Aircraft Acceptance Inspections, Type Certificate Data Sheet Conformity Inspections, Supplemental Type Certificate Conformity Inspections, FAA Form 337 Conformity Inspections, and physical inventory of the aircraft
  • Revise the Aircraft Status Report to reflect changes stemming from Airworthiness Directives, Manufacturer’s Bulletins, revisions, or other applicable data
  • Create, update, correct, and accurately maintain Maintenance Requirement in     the company technical records database

  • Communicate and correct time, cycle, calendar, DMR, Aircraft Logbook, parts tags or other aircraft records documentation errors discovered
  • Establish a filing system for component historical records not presently installed on fleet aircraft
  • Manage and oversee of all Company publications
  • Ensure aircraft records documentation include but not limited to:
  • o   Aircraft historical records
  • o   Component historical records
  • o   Aircraft logbooks
  • o   FAA Form 337s
  • o   ICAs
  • o   Parts tags
  • o   Inspection checklists
  • o   FAA Form 8130-3s
  • o   Status Sheet Change Forms and all other associated aircraft records documentation
  • o   Control and track the removal and return of any aircraft records from the Records Office
  • o   AD, ASB and SB compliance tracking
  • Supervisory responsibility and accountability for Airworthiness Department personnel including; determining workload, delegating assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance, workplace procedures and functions
  • Participate in corrective action in coordination with the Director of Maintenance Part 135 in accordance with all policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSA)
  • Strong knowledge of 14 CFR regulations applicable to the maintenance of aircraft operated on a part 135 Air Carrier Certificate
  • Strong knowledge of managing aircraft records, AAIP’s, MEL’s, Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, Weight and Balance, Equipment Lists and Major Alteration/Repair processes and data
  • Prioritize and multi-task to meet deadlines
  • High attention to detail
  • High critical thinking to use logic and reasoning to identify, research, and resolve issues
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite products

Education & Experience

  • Valid FAA Airframe and Power Plant Mechanic Certificate, Inspection Authorization a plus
  • Must possess a minimum of ten (10) years’ relevant experience with a Part 135 air carrier preferably in a quality assurance role

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer

Work Environment

  • Temperature-controlled office
  • Exposure to outdoor shops with potential extreme cold and hot temperatures and loud noises

Work Status, Schedule, & Travel

  • Full-time
  • Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week
  • On-call
  • Minimal Travel maybe required
