Job Objective

The Lead Paint Technician will ensure that all refinishing efforts comply with company standards and FAA regulations. They will also supervise Paint Technicians in prepping, painting and refinishing aircraft and components.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with appropriate personnel to prep and paint aircraft and aircraft components as required
  • Develop and manage the schedule for the paint department
  • Work closely with the Director of Maintenance on aircraft timelines and milestones relating to the paint department
  • Delegate and manage all paint department tasks
  • Consult maintenance manuals, technical publications, and manufacturer specifications to determine accurate procedures for aircraft refinishing
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with FAA regulations, manufacturer’s maintenance manuals, and company policies
  • Accurately develop and maintain records of maintenance actions, inspections, paint usage, and other documentation as required
  • Maintain required certifications and stay current with industry standards, procedures, and aircraft refinishing knowledge
  • Safely handle, mix, apply, and dispose of paints, coatings, solvents, and related hazardous materials in compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies; subject to required annual respirator fit testing and medical evaluation in accordance with OSHA standards
  • Carry out additional paint maintenance-related duties as assigned by the supervisor or Director of Maintenance

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have at least 10 years of aircraft painting experience
  • Experience in a Part 145 Repair Station preferred

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged standing as well as walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, kneeling
  • Frequent use of hands and wrists
  • Climbing heights on various equipment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Work Environment

  • Indoor/Outdoor shop with potential extreme hot and cold temperatures
  • *Must provide and utilize personal tools required to complete essential functions
  • Exposure to hazardous chemicals is possible
  • Moderate to loud noise level
  • Heavy machinery used

Work Status, Schedule, Travel

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Monday-Thursday 7:00 am-4:30 pm, Friday 7:00 am-12:00 pm
  • Overtime necessary depending on workload 
  • No travel required
